Joseph Anton Obmascher, age 68, of Whitewater, WI, passed away on Monday, Jan. 23, 2012, at the University Hospital & Clinics in Madison, WI. Joseph was born in LaCrosse, WI, the son of Anton and Beatrice (Dees) Obmascher. Joe graduated from LaCrosse Central High School and from the University of Wisconsin LaCrosse with a teaching degree. He taught for three years at Richland Center High School prior to moving to Whitewater. From 1969 until 2010, Joe taught Psychology and Sociology at Whitewater High School.
On Aug. 10, 1968, Joe married Jeanne Byrd in Richland Center, WI. Joseph was a member of the First English Lutheran Church in Whitewater. He served as advisor to the Strategy and Tactics Club at Whitewater High School. Joe loved history and visited many battlefields.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanne Obmascher of Whitewater, WI; his daughter, Jennifer (Brad Huelsman) Emond of Waunakee, WI; grandchildren: Marcel and Blaise Emond; and nieces and a nephew.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, Jan. 27, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the FIRST ENGLISH LUTHERAN CHURCH, Whitewater, WI, with Rev. Steven Hanson officiating. Friends may call from 4 until 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012, at the NITARDY FUNERAL HOME, Whitewater, WI, and after 10 a.m. on Friday at the CHURCH until the services.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be given to the First English Lutheran Church, or to the Phantom Lake YMCA Camp.
