Vernon K. Falkman, 85, of Delavan, WI, died Sat., Jan. 21, 2012 at St. Mary’s Janesville Hospital.
He was born May 1, 1926 in Minneapolis, MN, the son of Gustaf and Amy (Hedstrom) Falkman. Vernon was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during WWII. He married Carol Johnson on May 22, 1948 in Chicago, IL.
Vernon was employed as a carpenter with Zinzow General Contractors. He was a member of Local #836, Local #314, American Legion Post #173, and Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #197.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Carol Falkman of Delavan, WI; son, Gregory (Rosanne) Falkman of Plainfield, IL; daughter, Diane (Willie) Hyndman of Sharon, WI; four grandsons; one granddaughter; and eight great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents.
A memorial gathering will be held from 1 until 3 p.m. Saturday, January 28, 2012 in the Loyal Order of the MOOSE LODGE #197, 2701 W. Rockport Rd., Janesville, WI. CREMATION SOCIETY OF SOUTHERN WISCONSIN assisted the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in his name to the American Cancer Society or the Whitewater Fire Department.
