Donald F. Mehring, 86, of N. Washington Street, Elkhorn, WI, died Monday, Jan. 23, 2012, at Lakeland Health Care Center, Elkhorn, WI. Don was born June 1, 1925, in Waterford, WI, to the late Frank and Carrie (Hoppe) Mehring. He was united in marriage to Shirley Mae Knill on April 12, 1947, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church of Elkhorn, WI. Shirley died Jan. 16, 2008. He was a auto mechanic for almost 40 years at Roy’s Service of Elkhorn, WI, retiring in 1988. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church of Elkhorn, WI.
Don is survived by his three sons: Thomas (Patricia) of Mukwonago, WI, Richard (Kim) and Jerry (Janeen), both of Elkhorn, WI; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, Charles (Marie) of Canon City, CO; one brother-in-law, Ronald (Barbara) Knill of New Orleans, LA; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Shirley; one daughter, Jean Marie; and one son, Larry; one brother, Ralph; and one sister, Ruth.
Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, at HAASE-LOCKWOOD & ASSOCIATES FUNERAL HOME, 730 N. Wisconsin St., Elkhorn, WI. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Elkhorn, WI. Visitation will be Saturday from 12 Noon until time of services. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the caregivers of Lakeland Health Care Center and Season’s Hospice, who made the last year for Don more comfortable.
