Darrell L. DeHaan, Wausau/formerly Walworth, WI (2012)

Darrell L. DeHaan, 77, Wausau, formerly of Walworth, passed away peacefully in the presence of his family on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2012. Darrell was born and raised in Walworth, WI, the son of the late William and Ethel (Andrew) DeHaan. He attended Walworth High School where he excelled at all sports, especially basketball. Darrell served his country in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany during the Korean War. He began his career as a lineman with General Telephone (GTE) Company, retiring as an executive manager after 40 years of dedicated service. He married Beverly Tomasik on June 20, 1992.
Following retirement, he greatly enjoyed his pastimes of hunting and fishing, and had a true love for wildlife. He enjoyed his trips to South Dakota with his brother, and spending time in his boat on the lake. He was always an animal lover, even bringing home his special Kitty from the woods. He cherished his family, spending time and making memories of what was truly most important to him. He will be greatly missed by all those who had the honor of being part of his life.
Darrell is survived by his wife of 20 years, Beverly (Tomasik) DeHaan; his daughter, Kimberly (Michael) Repinski of Two Rivers; step-children: Janet (Glenn) Pearson of Colorado, Sharon (Dale) Gauger of Wausau, Greg( Carrie) Tomasik of Appleton; twelve grandchildren: Kristin (Barry) Heier, Kortnei (Tyler) Lewis, Kara, Kayla and Johnny Henning, Paul and Sarah Gauger, Lauren and Scott Pearson, Megan, Erin and Rachael Tomasik; and great-grandchildren: Isaiah, Christian and baby boy Heier not yet born; and his brother, Richard DeHaan.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 23, 2012, at SAINT ANDREW LUTHERAN CHURCH, 3200 North Mountain Road, Wausau. Rev. John Roseth will officiate. Burial will be at Walworth Center Cemetery, Walworth, WI. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. on Monday until the time of services at the CHURCH.
BRAINARD FUNERAL HOME–EVEREST CHAPEL, 5712 Memorial Court, Weston is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be directed to the family for a donation to a charity of their choice.
