Scott Philip Jones, Elkhorn  (1960 - 2012)

Scott Philip Jones, 52, of Park Drive, Elkhorn, WI, died peacefully with his family by his side on Friday, Feb. 3, 2012, at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee, WI. Scott was born on Jan. 12, 1960, in Elkhorn, WI. He was the son of Philip T. and Beverly A. (Moldenhauer) Jones. He grew up with three sisters and one brother. The family spent nearly every summer of his youth traveling throughout the United States and Canada (including Alaska). Scott graduated from Elkhorn High School with the Class of 1978. He played on the 1978 State High School Basketball Championship team as well as participated in other sports. He went on to graduate from University Wisconsin Eau Claire in 1982 with a degree in business. In 1992, Scott and his brother returned to Elkhorn, where together they started Jones School Bus Service. In 1995, Scott and his brother purchased Jones Travel upon the retirement of their parents, where he worked up until his death. Scott enjoyed traveling, shopping, spending time out on the area lakes, talking politics and reading.
Scott is survived by his daughter, Samantha Jones of Elkhorn, WI; his parents, Phil and Bev Jones of Elkhorn, WI; three sisters: Bonnie (Jon) Goertz of Rothschild, WI, Robin Jones of Chicago, IL, and Becky (Bryan) Haight of Sun Prairie, WI; one brother, Eric Jones of Elkhorn, WI; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Scott always had a passion for dogs and his golden retriever, Ginger, was his “Bonafide, loyal companion.” For this reason, his family is requesting memorials be made to Lakeland Animal Welfare Shelter (LAWS) P.O. Box 1000 Elkhorn, WI 53121.
A memorial service will be held at 12 p.m. (noon) Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012, at FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 111 N. Broad St., Elkhorn, WI. Visitation will be at the CHURCH on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of services.
