Myrtle D. Oestreich, Janesville (1921 - 2012)

Myrtle D. Oestreich, 90, of Janesville, died Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012, at Cedar Crest. She was born in Cadott, WI, on April 3, 1921, the daughter of John and Amanda (Emerish) Grabow. She graduated from Beloit High School in 1938. Myrtle was married to Bernard Gillespie on Feb. 6, 1943, and he preceded her in death in December of 1984. She then married William Oestreich on May 18, 1991, at St. William Catholic Church, and he preceded her on Dec. 3, 2003. Myrtle worked for Fairbanks-Morse as a Stenographer and then worked at Bergner’s for 20 years as a Supervisor of Clerks. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church.
She is survived by six children: Dennis (Shirley) Gillespie of Rye, NH, Lynda (David) Lennon of Markham, Ontario, Canada, Roger Gillespie of Rochester, NY, Wayne (Mary Alice) Gillespie of Denver, CO, Lavonne (Scott) Benash of Janesville, and Lisa (Leon) Anderson of Brodhead; six grandchildren: Chris (Gill), Jennifer (Oliver), Melissa (Sean), Grant, Jenessa, and Nicole; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; a sister, Irene Martindale; and her two brothers, Eldred and Quentin Grabow.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012, at FAITH LUTHERAN CHURCH, with Rev. David Andert officiating. A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the hour of the service at the CHURCH. Burial will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church or to the Alzheimer’s Support Center of Rock County.
