James Edward Jones, Evansville, WI (1947 - 2012)

James Edward Jones, 64, died Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, at home after a brief battle with lung cancer. He was born in St. Louis, MO, on Nov. 27, 1947, and was the son of the late Florentine S. (Sutter) Jones and George E. Jones. Jim graduated from Evansville High School in 1966 and worked for General Motors in Janesville for over 38 years, retiring in 2007. He married Jeanette (McNamer) Jones on Oct. 16, 1971, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Evansville. As a lifelong member of St. Paul’s, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 10920, served as an Extra-Ordinary Minister of Holy Communion and a Catechist for several years. He cherished spending time with his family and was always available to help when he was needed. In his free time he enjoyed his model railroads, coin collecting and anything Louis L’Amour.
Jim is survived by his wife, Jeanette; sons, Jason (Joanne) of Austintown, OH, Jeffrey, Omaha, NE; and daughter, Jennifer (Andy) Isola of Verona; grandsons: Michael and Brenden Jones and Oliver James Jones expected in May of 2012; step-brother, Dean (Suzanne) Jones of Bloomington, IN, and their children, Rebecca, Timothy and Thomas; step-sister, Suzette Ford of Bertram, TX, and her daughter, Jasmine and granddaughter, Elleana; sisters-in-law: Carolyn (Fred) Winger and Anne Burns, of Evansville, Judy (Don) Maass of Sturgeon Bay, Ursula McNamer of Colorado Springs, CO, and Anita McNamer of Etheridge, TN; brothers-in-law, Donald (Michelle) McNamer of Readstown and James (Deanie) McNamer of Evansville. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012 at ST. PAUL’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 35 Garfield Avenue, Evansville with Father Kevin Dooley presiding. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Evansville. Visitation will be on Wednesday, Feb. 8, at WARD FUNERAL HOME in Evansville from 4 until 8 p.m., with the Rosary recited at 8 p.m. and visitation Thursday at ST. PAUL’S from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Catholic Church for the Holy Cross Cemetery Memorial Gardens.
