Ella Mae “Ellie” Jacobson, age 78, of Janesville, died unexpectedly on Monday, Jan. 30, 2012, in Mesa, AZ. She was born in Janesville on Jan. 2, 1934, the daughter of Robert and Amanda (Schmaling) White. She grew up in Johnstown and lived in Janesville most of her life. Ellie graduated from Milton High School in 1951, and married Gordon Jacobson in Dubuque, IA on Dec. 18, 1954. She had been employed by Janesville Data Center, Kennedy Pharmacy, Janesville Health Care Center Pharmacy, and the past 13 years worked for the Senior Meal Program and was the bookkeeper for Faith Lutheran Church. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, enjoyed gardening and was an avid reader. Ellie enjoyed her family especially at Christmas, birthdays and family gatherings, and dearly loved her husband, children, grandchildren and great-granddaughter. She looked forward to her winters in Arizona.
Ellie is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, Gordon Jacobson of Janesville; five children: Deb Jacobson of Janesville, Rick Jacobson of Janesville, Denise (Paul) Smit of Janesville, Kirk Jacobson of Janesville and Mike (Lori) Jacobson of Milton; six grandchildren: Amanda, Kyle, Karly, Ali and their mother, Sue, Teegan and Mitchell Jacobson; one great-grandchild, Addison; one brother, Harold “Sonny” (Bev) White of Janesville; brothers & sisters-in-law, many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012, at FAITH LUTHERAN CHURCH with Rev. David Andert officiating. Inter-ment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Monday from 4 until 7 p.m. at SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, and again on Tuesday from 10 until 11 am. at the CHURCH.
