Rosemary Joyce (Hogan) Anstett, Janesville (1943 - 2012)
May 20, 1943 - January 14, 2012
Rosemary Joyce Anstett (Hogan), 68, of Janesville, WI, passed away Jan. 14, 2012, at Mercy Hospital. Rosie was born on May 20, 1943, to Mr. and Mrs. Floyd J. Hogan of Janesville.
She attended school in Edgerton, WI, and was always very active in school activities such as sewing, cooking, and playing the saxophone. She participated in 4-H Club and won many ribbons of all colors. Rosie was an active member of the Fulton Church, where she also taught bible studies to children.
Rosemary went on to graduate from the Swedish American Hospital School of Radiology. She did her residency as an x-ray technician at Westmoreland in Lake Forest, IL. She eventually became a full-time x-ray technician at Lake Forest Hospital in 1969, where she worked for over 30 years. She took a short break for five years to be a full-time loving, nurturing mom to daughter, Lisa. During this time, she enjoyed boating on Lake Michigan and on the Wolf River, while at her summer home in Winneconne, WI.
Rosie enjoyed vacationing all over the world, Hawaii being her favorite. She had a passion for fine dining, nice jewelry, shopping at Marshall Field's and Corvette's. Many weekend nights were enjoyed at her favorite restaurant, El Barrio's in Mundelein, IL, laughing and enjoying herself with her closest friends and co-workers.
Shortly after Rosemary's mom passed away, she moved back out to the farm where she and her life companion, Jim Fess, became active in the farming community, raising cattle for beef, raising chickens, and selling eggs. However, her garden was her passion; it was huge, and she went to many neighboring towns to participate in Farmers Markets. She really loved flowers--potting, planting, arranging, growing, and smelling them. Her list of favorite flowers is endless; never forget her favorite color is pink.
Rose was a fabulous cook, whether baking pies or making homemade pizzas, it didn't matter; she could make it all. She enjoyed canning fresh foods, and making homemade jelly. The family dog, Gypsy (in heaven with her now), watched her every second in the kitchen while she cooked, waiting for a scrap to fall.
She is survived by loving, caring companion of many years, Jim Fess; very much loved daughter, Lisa Olan (Anstett) and cherished granddaughter, Emily Olan (Anstett); many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Frank J. Hogan; grandmother, Bertha Heinz; father, Floyd J. Hogan; twin brother, Roger Hogan; and mother, Dolores M. Hogan.
A Memorial Visitation will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012, at the FULTON CHURCH, with Pastor Larry MacKenzie officiating. Burial will follow at Fulton Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday at the CHURCH from 10 a.m. until the start of the service.
