Mary Fern Garey, Janesville  (1922 - 2012)

Mary Fern Garey, age 90, went to be with the Lord on Fri., Dec. 28, 2012 at Edgerton Rehab Center. She was born on Feb. 26, 1922 in Latham, IL, to the late Hershel & Catherine (Mark) Harding. Mary graduated in 1940 from St. Patrick’s in Decatur IL. As a young women Mary worked as an aide at Wabash Hospital where friends introduced her to Glen Russell Garey. On Jan. 1, 1942, Mary wed the love of her life Glen Russell Garey in St. Jo, MO. Mary & Glen resided between Janesville, Beloit and Sheboygan, WI and raised seven beautiful children. Glen and Mary traveled to every destination that their hearts desired in the 70 years they were married. They especially enjoyed spending time in Pharr, TX, where they spent over 30 Wisconsin Winters together. Mary had a special love for roller-skating, bowling, playing Bridge, sewing, golfing and square dancing.
Mary is survived by her loving husband, Glen Russell; 4 children: Glen Michael of Menominee; Elizabeth Jane (Randy) Fehr of Janesville; Charles Robert (Renee) of Liberty MO; John Patrick of Janesville; and a son-in-law, Richard (Bonnie) Carroll of Milton. Glen and Mary were blessed to have 24 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends to share their lives with. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; children: Mark and Darlene Garey; Alice and LaVerne Hoium; Kathleen Carroll; a Grandson, Conan John Fehr; four Brothers: Leo, Robert, Harold and Paul; and a sister: Helen McGroaty.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Monday, December 31, 2012 at ST. JOHN VIANNEY CATHOLIC CHURCH with Father Randy Timmerman officiating.
