Robert E. "Bob" Anderson, Janesville  (1931 - 2012)

Robert E. "Bob" Anderson, age 81, of Janesville, died on Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center. He was born in Janesville on Feb. 13, 1931, the son of the late Olav and Alvilda (Kammerud) Anderson. Bob graduated from Janesville High School in 1950, and Milton College in 1954, with a Bachelor of Science Degree, Cum Laude. On Sept. 5, 1953, in Janesville, he married Mary Aileen Burtness and together they had seven children. Bob was a member of Trinity Free Lutheran Church in Janesville, where he followed the teachings of the Lord he loved. On June 24, 1954, shortly after he was married, Bob joined the US Army serving at Ft. Eustis, VA, until he was honorably discharged on June 22, 1956.
Over the years, Bob worked as an account manager for several companies in Illinois, Minnesota, and Wisconsin, before he took employment with GMAD-Janesville, retiring in 1988. Bob and his wife owned REA Realty and he was involved in designing three subdivisions in and around the Janesville area, and also areas around Beaver Dam, and the Palmyra/Eagle area. Bob was very proud of his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A wonderful family man, Bob always looked forward to family celebrations and holiday gatherings. Bob was a very avid fisherman, who enjoyed his time at the cabin and also a Green Bay Packer fan. He was especially proud when the Packers would win over the Chicago Bears.
Bob is survived by his wife, Mary; and his children: Stephen Alan (Kathy) Anderson of Danville, IL, Jeffrey Olaf (Sandra) Anderson of Baraboo, WI, Linda Marie Payne of Fort Wayne, IN, Carole Ann (Dan) Anderson-Crews of Roscoe, IL, James Robert Anderson of Fox Lake, WI, Scot David (Cathy) Anderson of Beavercreek, OH, and Cheryl Lynn (Jeff) Folk of Fort Atkinson, WI; 16 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his brother, David (Nancy) Anderson of Milton, WI; sister, Marlene (Roy) Lease of Jacksonville, FL; brothers and sisters-in-law: Donna Anderson of Milton, WI, John and Anne Burtness of Janesville, WI, and David and Virginia Burtness of Gray Summit, MO. He was predeceased by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at the WHITCOMB - LYNCH FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Jon Benson officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the FUNERAL HOME. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
