Catherine A. Norris, Janesville  (1944 - 2012)

Catherine A. Norris, age 68, of Janesville, died Dec. 12, 2012, at St. Elizabeth Nursing Home. She was born in Janesville, on Jan. 4, 1944, the daughter of Leighton and Elizabeth (McLeod) Norris and graduated from UW Madison with a Bachelors degree in Journalism and a Masters degree in Library Science. Cathy served as the Children’s Librarian at the Janesville Public Library for over 30 years. She was a member of AAUW, Parkinson’s Support group, the American Library Association, and St. John Vianney Catholic Church. Cathy served on the board for Rock County Head Start and was a recipient of the YWCA’s Woman of Distinction.
Cathy is survived by her two nieces, Heidi (John) Schwank and Erica (Andrew) Brunker, both of Janesville; a nephew, Christopher (Lynn) VanGuilder of Fairview, TN; seven great nieces and great nephews: Ryan Van Guilder, Paige and Timothy Schwank, Emily Brunker, Amanda VanGuilder, Aidan and Mary Kate Brunker; numerous cousins, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Mary (Harold) VanGuilder; and a great nephew, Shawn VanGuilder.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, at ST. JOHN VIANNEY CATHOLIC CHURCH, Janesville, with Fr. Randy Timmerman and Fr. Tom Marr officiating. Burial will take place on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Hope Cemetery, Chippewa Falls. Visitation will take place on Friday from 10 a.m. until the hour of Mass at ST. JOHN VIANNEY CATHOLIC CHURCH, Janesville. Memorials may be made in Cathy’s name to St. John Vianney Endowment Fund.
