Ralph J. "Beaver" Manthey, Janesville, WI  (1954 - 2012)

Ralph J. "Beaver" Manthey, age 58, a lifelong resident of rural Janesville, passed away Friday morning, Dec. 7, 2012, at St. Mary's Janesville Hospital following a brief illness. He was born Aug. 26, 1954, in Janesville, the son of the late Ralph L. and Mary T. (Bahr) Manthey. He attended Evansville schools, and was a graduate of Evansville High School, Class of 1972. Beaver worked for many years as the Parts Manager at Lakeside International Trucks, Inc. (Trucks, Inc.) until his passing.
Beaver was a man who will be remembered by all as a person who would always be there to lend a helping hand to anyone that needed it. He was a regular in the Thursday Night Card Group at Spirits, and also enjoyed spending time restoring his old Oliver '77 tractor. He was very active in the formative years of the Janesville Youth Football Leagues assisting in developing the program. His family and his many dear friends and their families were his greatest loves of all!
Beaver is survived by his two sisters, Alice (husband, Tim Higgins) Manthey, of Milwaukee, WI, and Mary Botsford, of Waukesha, WI; his nieces and nephew: Sarah (Brian) Phelps, Katie Botsford, Ralph Higgins, and Susie Higgins; numerous godchildren; cousins; and by many, many dear friends.
Funeral services with a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012, at ST. WILLIAM'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 456 N. Arch St., with Fr. John Auby officiating. Burial will take place in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 4 until 7 p.m. at the WHITCOMB-LYNCH FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, or on Tuesday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass at the CHURCH. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials in his name may be made to the Janesville Youth Football Program or to the American Diabetes Association.
