Richard Joseph Brown, Delavan Lake, WI  (1931 - 2012)

Richard Joseph Brown, age 81, a life-long Delavan Lake resident, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Dec. 7, 2012, at his home. Richard (Dick) was born in Rockford, IL, on April 25, 1931, the son of Joseph and Alva (Johnson) Brown. Richard grew up in Rockford and graduated from Harlem High School. He served in the U.S. Army-Korean War. He married Joan Cunningham on Aug. 11, 1951. He owned his own businesses: Brown's Service, Brown's Corner, and Wisconsin Golf on South Shore Drive for 60 plus years. He was active in many community project events.
Richard is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joan of Delavan; three daughters and sons-in-law: Jayne (Larry) Hagman of Manitowoc, WI, Connie (Lewie) Lindloff of Delavan, Terri (Jim) Long of Walworth; and two sons and daughters-in-law: Joe (Lisa) Brown of Delavan and Bob (Tami) Brown of Walworth. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Richard was proceeded in death by his parents; and sister, Betty.
A celebration of his life will be held at the Delavan American Legion on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, from 2 until 5 p.m. The family requests all donations to Aurora Visiting Nurse Association. TOYNTON FUNERAL HOME is assisting the family with arrangements.
