Donald Grover Hopkins, Beloit, WI (1930 - 2012)

Donald Grover Hopkins, 82, currently of Beloit, and longtime Delavan, WI, resident, died at Premier Health Care Center, in Beloit on Dec. 3, 2012. Don was born Jan 21, 1930, in Delavan Twsp., WI, the son of John and Esther (Grover) Hopkins. Don graduated from Delavan High School in 1948. He farmed all his life in the Delavan area. He married Carmen Hasselquist on Aug. 11, 1949. He then married Harriett Larson April 30, 1988, in Elkhorn, WI. Don was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. He played football with the Delavan Red Devils and has been associated with the Red Devil all his life. He was an avid Packer fan and was seen at many sporting events around Delavan. He was one of Delavan's more colorful characters being seen coffee drinking and chatting at many local restaurants with his buddies.
Don is survived by his wife, Harriett of Beloit; two daughters, Donna (James) Muller of Stitzer, WI, and Cathy (Dan) Hopkins of Madison, WI; four sons: Wesbrook Hopkins of Delavan, William Hopkins of Atlanta, GA, Winston (Karelyn) Hopkins of Madison and Wayne (Kathy) Hopkins of Delavan; two step daughters, Kathryn Hudson of Beloit and Cindy (Don) Marsden of Loves Park, IL; one stepson; Michael (Nancy) Hallock of Tennessee; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
A gathering with the Hopkins Family will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, at the BETZER FUNERAL HOME in Delavan. The family suggests Memorials to Delavan Youth Football.
