Fred L. Albert, Brodhead, WI  (1911 - 2012)

Fred L. Albert, age 101, of Brodhead, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, at St. Elizabeth Manor, Footville, WI. He was born on June 11, 1911, the son of Julius and Grace (Cuplin) Albert. He married Dorothy M. Barto on March 9, 1939, in Dubuque, IA. Fred was a truck driver for Janesville Sand and Gravel for many years, retiring in 1974. He also distributed Rocky Dell Mineral Spring Water in the surrounding area. He was a member of the Yesteryear Car Club. Fred loved gardening, ice fishing, and was a skilled wood craftsman. Fred enjoyed playing practical jokes and attributed his longevity to his sense of humor and staying married to the same woman for 73 years.
Fred is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Footville; two daughters, Diane (Richard) Riese of Brodhead and Denise (Steve) Saunders of Garnavillo, IA; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Rex, Shirl and John; and a sister, Ruby Anderson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, at the D.L. NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, BRODHEAD. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. until time of services at the FUNERAL HOME.
