Catherine B. Grebe, Janesville  (1919 - 2012)

Catherine B. Grebe, age 93, of Janesville, died on Monday, July 30, 2012, at St. Mary’s Janesville Hospital. She was born in Janesville on April 29, 1919, the daughter of Martin and Anna (Dawson) Conway. She attended St. Mary’s Catholic School, and graduated from Janesville High School in 1936. Catherine married Melvin E. Grebe on July 13, 1940, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Janesville, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 10, 1993. She had been employed by Mercy Hospital, where she worked in Labor and Delivery for many years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Janesville, the Catholic Woman’s Club, Janesville Woman’s Club and the Elks Club.
Catherine is survived by her three children: Edward (Diana) Grebe of Janesville, Mary Bartlett of Evansville, and Jane Grebe of Thonotosassa, FL; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dr. Anna Marie Ettinger of Fenton, MI, and Margaret (Donald) Disch of Janesville; three sisters-in-law: Alice Conway, Helen Conway and Delores Conway, all of Janesville; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Melvin; infant daughter; three brothers: James, Martin and Francis Conway; and son-in-law, Walter Bartlett.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012, at ST. MARY’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, Janesville, with Rev. Stephen J. Umhoefer officiating. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:30 until 11 a.m. at the CHURCH. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Croak Settlement.
