Lester W. Peterson, Janesville  (1924 - 2012)

Lester W. Peterson, age 87, of Janesville, died on Friday, April 20, 2012, at Mercy Hospital. He was born in Westby on August 31, 1924, the son of Elmer and Nora (Bjornstad) Peterson. He married Virginia Kingslien on Jan. 13, 1945, in Church of Christ, Viroqua. She preceded him in death on Sept. 23, 2010. Lester was employed by General Motors for 23 years before retiring in 1986. He was a member of Footville Church of Christ.
Lester is survived by eight children: Sheryl (Robert) Folck of Janesville, Sandra (Thomas) Hill of Janesville, Debra Jacobus of Weippe, ID, David (Connie) Peterson of Janesville, Karen (Lonnie) Coplien of Janesville, Karlene (James) Jensen of Orfordville, Kelly (Rose) Peterson of Riverside, CA, and Conrad (Jenny) Peterson of Markle, IN; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandsons; five sisters: Darlene Kingslien, Janice (John) Martini, Duffy Peterson, Blanche Garrity, and Natalie Chudej; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Roderick; great-granddaughter; brothers, Ardy and Orville; and sisters, Evelyn and Ada.
Dad’s interests were wood cutting, traveling and camping trips with Mom, having the greenest lawn in the neighborhood, making trips up north and most of all spending time with family. He shared tremendous love, loyalty and dedication to his wife of 65 years, Virginia.
Funeral Services will be held at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at the SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME and CREMATORY with Rev. David Kinnick officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at the FUNERAL HOME. Interment will be in Coon Prairie Cemetery, Westby, WI.
