Jerelyn “Jere” R. Schroder, 59, of Beloit, WI, died Friday, April 13, 2012, surrounded by her family at Beloit Memorial Hospital.
She was born May 13, 1952, in Janesville, WI, the daughter of Carl and Jeanette (Thiele) Nickols. Jere was a graduate of Parker High School. She graduated from St. Mary’s School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse and the University of Wisconsin, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. Jere married Daryl Schroder on June 16, 1971, in Virginia, IL, at St. Luke’s Catholic Church. They remained happily married for over 40 years and “she was the best wife ever,” as quoted by Daryl.
Jere was a quiet, strong woman. She was always caring for others and putting their needs before her own. She humbly sacrificed for others without ever wanting or expecting recognition. Jere dedicated her life to her family. She was a devoted stay-at-home mom to her five children. Once her children had grown, she worked at Fairbanks Morse and more recently at the School District of Beloit as a nurse. Jere loved her job as a school nurse, and the kids were instantly attached to her calming and caring manner. Jere was very talented and had several hobbies. She loved reading, cooking, gardening and crafts. She also enjoyed spending time with her eight grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Daryl Schroder of Beloit; five children: Marney (Jeff) Lyon of Oregon, WI, Carey (Jaron) Combs of Beloit, Ben Schroder of Beloit, Molly Schroder of Oregon, WI, and Luke (Laura) Schroder of Evansville, WI; eight grandchildren: Abby Schroder, Mallory Combs, Camden Combs, Lacy Combs, Thomas Lyon, Andrew Lyon, Maggie Lyon and Will Schroder; brothers and sisters: Tom (Marcia) Nickols of Door County, WI, Steve (Ann) Nickols of Janesville, WI, Cindy Torres of Janesville, WI, Mary Ann (Rick) Koehler of Waukesha, WI, and Nick Nickols of Janesville, WI; sister-in-law, Marcia (Dennis) Wise of Las Vegas, NV; numerous nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m., Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at the DALEY MURPHY WISCH & ASSOCIATES FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORIUM, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 19, 2012, in ST. JUDE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 747 Hackett Street, Beloit, WI, with Fr. John Hedrick officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Thabor Cemetery.
