BELOIT—Doris Ann Saladino, 69, Beloit, WI, died Saturday, July 10, 2010, in OSF St. Anthony Hospital, Rockford, IL. She was born on June 5, 1941, in Louisville, KY, daughter of Fred L. Fleck and Irene C. Cannon. Doris was a 1959 graduate of Beloit Catholic High School. She married Jerry J. Saladino on Aug. 22, 1959, in St. Peter Catholic Church, South Beloit, IL. Doris was employed by Wisconsin Power and Light, retiring in 2000. She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church, Beloit, where she belonged to the Marian Guild. Doris loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandson. She was passionate about playing the accordion, and was known for her dry sense of humor. Doris enjoyed embroidery, puzzles, reading and watching mystery and science fiction movies.
Survivors include her three children: Jan (Randy) Collins of Kingston, TN, Michael (Kathy) Saladino of Waukesha, WI, and Yoo Mi (Carmen) Saldana of Janesville, WI; six grandchildren: Mark Themas, Regina (Duane) Smith, Mallory Saladino, Paul Saladino, Thomas Saldana, and Sarah Saldana; one great-grandson, Aidan Smith; two brothers, Fred (Cindy) Fleck of Janesville, WI, and Jim (Mary) Fleck of Clinton, WI; three sisters: Pat (Larry) Hanson of Sheboygan, WI, Mary Kaye (Dennis) Lasher of Roscoe, IL, and Carrie Morelock of Beloit, WI; brother-in-law, Les Schroeder; and sisters-in-law, Randi Fleck and Peggy Fleck.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Tommy Saladino; brothers: Leo, Larry, and Bill Fleck; sisters, Mary Jo Fleck and Martha Schroeder; and nephew, Jeffrey Fleck.
A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 15, 2010, in the ST. JUDE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 747 Hackett St., Beloit, with Father John Hedrick officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Thabor Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 until 7 p.m. in the DALEY MURPHY WISCH & ASSOCIATES FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORIUM, 2355 Cranston Rd., Beloit, with a Scripture Service at 3:45 p.m. A memorial will be established in her name at a later date.
