Robert "Bob" Joseph Brown Sr., Milton  (1941 - 2010)

December 2, 1941 - January 22, 2010
Robert "Bob" Joseph Brown Sr., 68, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, Jan. 22, 2010, surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Bob was born on Dec. 2, 1941, in Chicago, IL, the son of the late Charles R. and Lucille M. (Paluck) Brown. After his family moved to Wisconsin, Bob attended Elkhorn Schools, later joined the U.S. Navy in 1958, and was Honorably discharged in 1962. On June 8, 1963, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Fort Atkinson, Bob married the love of his life, Judith Brown.
Bob and Judy moved to Janesville, where he worked for Janesville Outdoor Advertising/Vivid Signs as a top designer and painter. Bob later started his own business; "R. J. Brown Signs", and continued working until his health declined. Bob was an exceptional artist and hobbyist, who astounded people with his natural artistic abilities. His artistic talents included stained glass works, woodworking, leather crafting, and lapidary stone jewelry. His handcrafted wood kaleidoscopes were of exceptional color and clarity; a wonderful piece of artwork. He also built and flew radio-controlled airplanes and enjoyed model railroading. Not only will his hands be remembered by his artistic creations, he was always willing to "lend a hand" to anyone in need. He was a very talented man, who will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Judy; three children: Robert (Sheila) Brown of Temple, TX, Michele Schultz of Janesville, and Patrick (Shelley) Brown of Milton; six grandchildren, whom he was very proud of: Ryan (Rachel), Sharon, Alicia, Jason, Jacob, and Mikayla; and two great-grandchildren, whom he loved dearly, Hailey and Berkley. He is further survived by three brothers: Terry Brown of Janesville, John (Alice) Brown of Janesville, and Roger Brown of Elkhorn, WI; his sister, Kathy (George) Szecsy of Nekoosa, WI; and his sisters- and brothers-in-law: Kathie and Doug Judd of Chattanooga, TN, and Jim and Diane Smith of Jefferson, WI. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother- and father-in-law, Adeline and Jim Smith.
Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010, at the WHITCOMB-LYNCH-ALBRECHT FUNERAL HOME, JANESVILLE; 15 N. Jackson St.; (608) 752-2444, with Fr. James Kuhn officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorials would be greatly appreciated if they were made in Bob's name to HospiceCare, Inc.
"A warm and heartfelt Thank You to the wonderful team of nurses and staff with HospiceCare, Inc. who helped to make Bob's stay at home as comfortable as possible."
