Douglas E. Cass, Janesville  (1938 - 2010)

Douglas E. Cass, 71, Janesville, died Sunday, Jan. 24, 2010, at home. He was born in Eau Claire on Nov. 24, 1938, son of George and June (Gordon) Cass. Doug served in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Europe. He married Mary Lou Mitzen on May 12 1979, in Burlington. She preceded him in death on Feb. 26, 1996. Doug was employed by General Motors as a heavy repair driver for 35 years. He was a member of UAW Local #95, and in former years, enjoyed bowling and trapshooting.
He is survived by five children from a previous marriage: Michael, Randy, Patricia, Sara, and Katie; two stepchildren, Wade (Rhonda) Cass and Michelle “Micki” (Michael) Spohn, both of Janesville; many grandchildren; five siblings: Wayne Cass of Janesville, Ruth Ming of Eau Claire, Ann (Dan) Parker of Gladstone, MI, Judy Loga of Tucson, AZ, and Jerry (Vicky) Cass of Eau Claire; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and a brother, Steven Cass.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 28, 2010, at the SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME, Janesville. Chaplain Steven Hayes of HospiceCare Inc. will preside. Entombment will follow in Milton Lawns Memorial Park. Visitation will take place on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service at the SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME.
