Virginia Jean Butke, Janesville  (1927 - 2010)

Virginia Jean Butke, 82, Janesville, WI, formerly of Whitewater, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010, at Mercy Hospital in Janesville. Virginia was born in Johnstown, WI, on April 22, 1927, daughter of Otto R. and Augusta M. (Kreger) Schultz. On June 21, 1946, Virginia married Earl Harold Butke at St. John's Lutheran Church in Milton, WI. Earl preceded her in death on Feb. 12, 1994. Virginia worked at Whitewater Electronics for 23 years, and at Universal Electronics in Helenville for three years before retiring. She was a member of the First English Lutheran Church in Whitewater.
Surviving are a Very Special Friend, Leroy Geyer of Janesville; son, Gary (Susan) Butke of Waukesha; three daughters: Carol Ickes of Elkhorn, Marilyn Butke of Elkhorn, and Bonnie (friend, Rick Biscoff) Sigmund of Whitewater; eight grandchildren: Wayne (Stacey) Butke, Wendy (Brian) Guild, Cody (Jenny) Sigmund, DeAnna Sigmund, Chad Sigmund, Alex, Zachery and Austin (AJ) Butke; three stepgrandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Earl; a daughter, Marlene; son-in-law, Vincent Ickes; three sisters; and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 8, 2010, at the FIRST ENGLISH LUTHERAN CHURCH, Whitewater, WI, with Rev Steven Hanson and Rev. Jerald Wendt officiating. Burial will be in the Richmond Cemetery, Town of Richmond, WI. Friends may call from 1 until 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 7, at FIRST ENGLISH LUTHERAN CHURCH, Whitewater, and after 10 a.m. on Monday at the CHURCH until the services.
