Ronald E. Ames, 58, of Lone Rock, WI, passed away early Monday, Oct. 12, 2009, from complications following surgery. He was born in Janesville on April 1, 1951, son of John and Evelyn (Burke) Ames. He was married on Nov. 14, 1981, to the former Susan Sweeney. Ron was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Avoca and the Lone Rock Rescue Squad.
Survivors include his wife, Susan Ames of Lone Rock; four children: Melinda (Ted) Alexander of Albany, Thomas (Andrea) Ames of Rochester, MN, Joshua Ames of Richland Center, and Nicole (Jeremy) Kienitz of Lone Rock; three grandchildren: Ryan and Tyler Alexander and Tegan Kienitz; 11 siblings: Peggy (Charlie) Mess of Janesville, Bob (Lana) Ames of Beloit, Billy, Kevin and Mike Ames, all of Janesville, Brenda Crum of South Carolina, Roger (Diane) Ames of Beloit, Allan (Donna) Ames of Milton, Suzie Kay (Terry) Petitt of Whitewater, Sherri Ames of Janesville, and Alice (Mike) Godding of Milton; many nieces, nephews, honorary children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Evelyn Ames; a brother, Jerry Ames; and a grandson, Gage Kienitz.
Ron's passions in life were driving school bus for the River Valley Schools, attending auctions, working on cars, mowing lawns for elderly people in town, playing with his grandchildren, and being a driver for the Lone Rock Rescue Squad and helping the Lone Rock Fire Department.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009, at the RICHARDSON-STAFFORD FUNERAL HOME in Spring Green. Pastor Steven Schneider will officiate.
