Daryl "Gabby" Kay Gabbard, Beloit, WI  (1948 - 2009)

Daryl Kay Gabbard, 61, of Beloit, WI, died Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009, at his home. He was born Nov. 9, 1948, in Yakima, WA, a son of Denver and Gladys (McDowell) Gabbard. Daryl was a veteran of the United States Army. He married Linda Pomeroy on March 30, 1969, in Phoenix, AZ. Daryl was employed by Material Services and Stella Cheese. He attended the Church of Christ, South Beloit, IL. Daryl enjoyed fishing, trains, and heavy equipment. He collected heavy equipment and train models, as well as coins. Daryl loved to volunteer at larry and Phyl's Hobby Shop, Janesville, and socialize with his many friends there.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Linda Gabbard of Beloit; a son, Daryl J. (Cindy) Gabbard of Beloit; two daughters, Lynn (Francis) Olszta and Stacy (Steve) Pretsch, both of Beloit; six grandchildren: Robert Gabbard, William Kamppi, Samantha Pretsch, Kimberly Olszta, Steven Pretsch, and Logan Gabbard; three great-grandchildren: Paytin Pretsch, Paul Carlson-Hicks, William Robert John Kamppi; two nephews, special friends: Bonnie Francis, Joe Westwood, Dave, Christina Pender and family, Susie; and numerous friends at the hobby shop. He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Scott Pretsch; a brother, Robert Gabbard; and a sister, Sue Gabbard.
