David A. Bratton, Janesville/Mineral Point, WI  (1955 - 2009)

David A. “Smiley” Bratton, 54, of Janesville, formerly of Mineral Point, died on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009, at his home in Janesville, following a brief illness. David was born on May 3, 1955, to Charlton and Vera (Adams) Bratton. He graduated from Mineral Point High School in 1973, and worked at several jobs before starting a career at General Motors Assembly Plant in Janesville, where he worked for over 30 years. He married Lynne Jewell, on Feb. 14, 1987 in Janesville. His daughter, Amy, and his granddaughter, Mylee, were the loves of his life. He was a true friend to many, a loving son and a great brother. David enjoyed cruising and fishing on the Mississippi River, “doing” the Kentucky Derby every year, often on his birthday and trips to Vegas. He will be greatly missed by everyone, including his best pal, “Kelly”, his devoted golden retriever.
David is survived by his daughter, Amy Bratton of Colorado; his granddaughter, Mylee; his father, Charlton (Elaine) Bratton of Mineral Point; his brother, Tom Bratton (Jane) of Mineral Point; his step sister, Susan (Brian) Krueger of Mukwonago; step brothers, Ray (Carol) Palzkill of Mineral Point and Steve (Ruth) Palzkill of Waukesha; as well as nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Vera Bratton.
A Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 23, 2009, at the FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH in Mineral Point. Burial will be held in Graceland Cemetery at a later date. Relatives and friends may call from 2 until 6 p.m. on Sunday at the GORGEN FUNERAL HOME in Mineral Point and from 10 a.m. until time of services on Monday at the CHURCH.
