Robert "Bob" Sidney Rude, Edgerton  (1925 - 2009)

Robert "Bob" Sidney Rude, 84, of Edgerton, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009, at Willowbrook Nursing and Rehab in Lake Mills. Bob was born on Aug. 19, 1925, in Edgerton, son of the late John and Borghild (Helgestad) Rude. He was united in marriage to Barbara Jean Kaufman on June 12, 1946, in Rockford, IL. Bob was a long time member of both East Koshkonong Lutheran Church, Cambridge, and Central Lutheran Church, Edgerton.
Bob owned and operated Rude's Auto Body and Car Wash for many years in Edgerton, which is now Oren's Auto Body and Car Wash. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, traveling, gardening, camping, and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was in the United States Army in the European Theater from 1943 to 1945. He received a purple heart and a bronze star. He was a member of the V.F.W., the D.A.V., the American Legion and the Edgerton Lions.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Barbara of Edgerton; two daughters, Catherine Engler of Edgerton and Marilyn (John) Jones of Sierra Vista, AZ; one son, Dennis (Beverly) Rude of Friendship, WI; 11 grandchildren: Ryan, Bethany, Andrew, Lindsay, Aaron, Tracy, Tiffany, Jesse, Samuel, Chris, and Wayne; and nine great-grandchildren: Alexa, Alex, Jonathan, Daniel, Christian, Nick, Sam, Autumn, and Daryl; two sisters, Evelyn Hexom of Janesville and Carol Luiso of Loveland, OH; and one brother-in-law, Edward Long of Dayton, OH. He was preceded in death by one sister, Clariet Long; and two brothers-in-law, Salvatore Luiso and Russell Hexom.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009, at EAST KOSHKONONG LUTHERAN CHURCH, Cambridge, with Rev. James Johnson Officiating. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday, Nov. 18, from 4 until 7 p.m. at the EHLERT FUNERAL HOME (US HWY. 51 S.), Edgerton, and at the CHURCH on Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of service. Full Military Services will be held at the cemetery by the Edgerton Memorial Squad.
