George Clarence Dahl, Janesville (1921 - 2009)

George Clarence Dahl, 87, of Janesville, passed away at his home surrounded by his family following a valiant battle with cancer on Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009. George was born in Janesville on Nov. 27, 1921, the son of Gust and Christine (Oanes) Dahl. He married Jane Van Galder in 1949. George served his country in the South Pacific Theater with the U. S. Navy during World War II as a First Class Pharmacist Mate. He was employed in the gold nib department of Parker Pen Company for 40 years, retiring in 1983. George was a lifelong member of Kienow-Hilt V.F.W. Post #1621.
Surviving are five children: Gary (Margaret) Dahl of Madison, David Dahl, Thomas Dahl, John (Rhonda) Dahl, and Nancy (John) Willger, all of Janesville; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one brother, Harold Dahl of Racine.
George was preceded in death by his wife, Jane, on May 13, 1990. He was also preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Erling Dahl and Arthur Dahl.
George and his family deeply appreciate all of the kindness, generosity, and help of friends, neighbors, relatives, and health care providers, who were always there for him.
Visitation hours will be from 4 until 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13, 2009, at HENKE-CLARSON FUNERAL HOME, 1010 N. Wright Rd., Janesville. Funeral services will be at Henke-Clarson Funeral Home at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 14, with Chaplain Steven Hayes officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, with military rites conducted by Kienow-Hilt V.F.W. Post #1621. Assisting the family is Henke-Clarson Funeral Home (608-641-1713).
