Evelyn E. (White) Lindrew, Stevens Point/Beloit (1915 - 2009)

Evelyn E. (White) Lindrew, 94, formerly of Beloit, WI, died on Friday, Oct. 30, 2009, at the Portage County Health Care Center in Stevens Point, WI. She spent her adult life in Beloit until 2007. She was born on July 30, 1915, to Grace E. (Peck) White and James E. White in Edgerton, WI. Evelyn graduated from Palmyra High School in 1933. She worked for Mr. and Mrs. Leishman (President of Gardner Machine Co.) for several years. Evelyn married Milford B. Lindrew on Dec. 25, 1941. They had four children (David, Joyce, Gerald, Roger). They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on Christmas 2006. Milford predeceased her on Feb. 15, 2007. Evelyn completed courses in art and clerical work. She enjoyed volunteering in church, scouts, 4-H, Homemaker’s Club, Airstream Club, Sons of Norway and other groups. She was very proud when her family was recognized as “Scout Family of the Year” in 1957. Evelyn demonstrated her artistic skills at craft shows and events throughout Wisconsin. As an artist, she was employed at Sharpe Studios in Beloit. She helped run the family orchard (Windsong Orchards) near Elkhorn, WI, and moved to Stevens Point in her later years to be near her daughter.
Survivors include her her brother, Willard (Betty) White of Racine; three sons: David (Vicki) Lindrew of Baton Rouge, LA, Gerald (Ellen McGuire) Lindrew of Alexandria, VA, and Roger (Patricia) Lindrew of Elkhorn; a daughter, Joyce (David) Chekouras of Stevens Point; two grandsons, Todd (Susan) Lindrew and Patrick Lindrew; five granddaughters: Jenica Chekouras, Kathryn Salzmann, Rebecca Lindrew, Amanda Lindrew, and Kristine Lindrew; six great-grandchildren: Todd Lindrew's children: Collin Lindrew, Zachary Lindrew and Sarah Lindrew; Kathryn Salzmann's sons, Joshua Salzmann and Lukas Salzmann; and Amanda Lindrew’s daughter, Gabrielle Anders. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Milford; parents; sister, Gladys Miller; brother, Glen White; and a grandson, Gregory Lindrew.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, in the DALEY-MURPHY-WISCH AND ASSOCIATES FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORIUM, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit. Interment will be at the East Lawn Cemetery, Beloit. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of service in the funeral home.
