Gene Merlin (Joe) Buck, 80, of Franklin, AR, went to be with his Lord early Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009. He was born in Janesville, WI, on Feb. 18, 1929, son of Ray J. and Nellie (Johnson) Buck. He married Norma Jean Collins on Nov. 27, 1948. He was a member of Horseshoe Bend Assembly of God in Horseshoe Bend, AR. He retired from General Motors in Oct. 1979 as a Stationary Steam Engineer.
Gene is survived by his wife of 60 years, Norma; five children: Susan (Lance) Miller of Salem, AR, John (Karen) Buck of Brodhead, WI, James (Cynthia) Buck of Violet Hill, AR, Paul (Bobette) of Franklin, AR, and Mary (Rocky W) Smith of Violet Hill, AR; 11 grandchildren: Kimberly (Kurt) Rebarchek of Janesville, Michele (James) Bryant of Beloit, WI, Jon (Lori) Buck of Beloit, Chandra Cole of Beloit, Sarah Jo Buck of Jonesboro, AR, Dawn Borchart of South Dakota, Nicole Crocker of Texas, Cherish Buck of Texas, Amanda Kuehntopp of Jonesboro, AR, Stephanie June Calrue of Waupaca, WI, Heather (Matthew) Schamel of Thayer, MO; 33 great-grandchildren; a brother, Alan (Virginia) Buck of Colorado; nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray & Nellie Buck; and a grandson, Simon Ray Buck.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009, at the HORSESHOE BEND ASSEMBLY OF GOD. Brother Berlin Walker and Brother Leon Moorehead will officiate.
