Richard E. "Dick" Bakke, 68, of Belvidere, IL, died in his home Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2008, after a sudden illness. Dick was born on Aug. 30, 1939, in Beloit, WI, son of Norman and Tilla (Petterson) Bakke. He was a loving husband and father for 49 years and will be greatly missed by his family.
Richard is survived by his wife, Patti Bakke; sons, Eugene Bakke of Loves Park, IL, and James (Janis) Bakke of Belvidere, IL; daughters, Julie Bakke of Rockford, IL, and Sara (Joe) Paulson of Monroe Center, IL; brother, Dale (Nancy) Bakke of Brodhead, WI; sisters: Ann (Merlin) Thompson, Norma (Charles) McClintic, and Sandra (Gerald) Garde, all of Beloit; sisters-in-law, Kathryn Bakke and Mildred Bakke, both of Beloit; and several nieces & nephews. Dick was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: Melvin, Earl, Lawrence, and Gerald; and two sisters, Helen and Hazel.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 17, 2008, in LUTHER VALLEY CHURCH, 7107 S. Luther Valley Rd., Beloit, with burial of his cremains in the church cemetery.
