NEWVILLE

Bridge work will mean nighttime slowdowns on southbound Interstate 90/39 near Newville over the next two weeks, the state Department of Transportation announced Wednesday.

Periodic slowdowns are expected on southbound I-90/39 near the Rock River bridge between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 26-27, and again on Monday and Tuesday, March 5-6.

Also, from Wednesday, Feb. 28, to March 2 and March 7-9, the southbound Interstate will be reduced to one lane nightly.

The northbound Interstate lanes will remain open.

Other road closures associated with this work include:

  • The Highway 59 ramp to I-90/39 southbound is anticipated to be closed from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. weeknights from Monday, Feb. 26, through March 9. The ramp will be open during daytime hours and weekends.
  • Ellendale Road under I-90/39, along the south side of the Rock River, will be closed from 6 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, to 6 a.m. March 3.
  • Richardson Springs Road on the north side of the river will be closed from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. March 7-8. Access will be provided to Richardson Springs Road residents.

The bridge work and associated closures are weather dependent and subject to change.
