Kristina Secord will serve as the interim Walworth County clerk of court after Sheila Reiff announced last week that she had accepted a similar position with the state Supreme Court, Walworth County Judge David Reddy said Monday.
The Walworth County judges unanimously picked the chief deputy clerk to fill Reiff's job, according to a news release. Secord, of Elkhorn, has also served as deputy clerk and court calendar clerk.
“Kristy is the obvious choice,” Reddy said in the release. “She brings a high level of competence and commitment to the position.”
Secord worked for the clerk of court's office from 1992 until 2002 and returned in 2010, the release states.
Reiff will start her new job with the state’s high court and court of appeals Feb. 19. She replaces Diane M. Fremgen.
Secord’s appointment runs until Jan. 6, 2019, when whoever is elected in November will begin a new term, Secord said in an email.
