Hope Over Addiction, a nonprofit started with help from a Janesville insurance agent, won $250 for its work with the loved ones of drug addicts.

The Rockford, Illinois-based nonprofit provides support, education and resources for those affected by drug addiction after a fatal overdose.

Lindsey Tierney, an agent at the Rob Seeman Agency in Janesville, helped form Hope Over Addiction after losing her boyfriend to an overdose in August 2014.

The nonprofit’s International Overdose Awareness Day was the event that won the monetary award. It took place Aug. 26 at the YMCA Log Lodge in Rockford.
