The engine of a trash-collecting truck caught fire Wednesday morning in Janesville, causing the evacuation of DaVita Dialysis, 1305 Woodman Road.
About seven patients were evacuated to the parking lot of next-door Rogan’s Shoes.
No one was in injured during the fire, and the driver got out safely from the Waste Management truck, which was near the dumpster behind the dialysis business.
Janesville Fire Department acting Lt. Tim Hopkins said the truck’s driver reported the fire coming from near the truck’s engine at 9:54 a.m. Hopkins said the cause of the fire is unknown.
During the fire, a vehicle nearby by suffered some paint damage due to the heat, Hopkins said.
An Alliant crew was called because of danger to power cables overhead.
