Three people were taken to a hospital after a two-vehicle traffic crash on Janesville’s east side Friday night.
Janesville police responded to the crash at 9:01 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Pontiac Drive and East Milwaukee Street, according to a police news release.
Officers discovered one of the vehicles was on fire, extinguished it and then began treating victims. Janesville Fire Department paramedics and firefighters assisted.
Initial investigation showed a sport utility vehicle was eastbound on East Milwaukee Street at a high rate of speed, the release said. A passenger car with two occupants was turning eastbound onto East Milwaukee from Pontiac Drive and was struck by the SUV, according to the news release.
The driver of the SUV suffered life-threatening injuries. The occupants of the other car both suffered non-life-threatening injuries. All three were transported to Mercyhealth Hospital and Trauma Center, Janesville, the release said.
The crash remains under investigation.
