Several local pork producers won awards or scholarships at the 2018 Pork and Corn/Soy Expo, according to a press release.

The Wisconsin Pork Association helped organize the event, which was held earlier this month in Wisconsin Dells.

Randy and Linda Kleven of Janesville earned the distinguished service award for their leadership in the state’s pork industry. Randy is president of Rock County Pork Producers, which hosts the county’s annual Pork Fest.

Several area students received Wisconsin Pork Association scholarships, according to the release.

Sarah Strathman of Brodhead earned the $500 Whitmore Memorial Scholarship. She is a junior at UW-Platteville and recently completed the pork mentorship program.

Caitlyn Wileman of Janesville was accepted into this year’s pork mentorship program.

Makalyn Peterson of Walworth and Emily Kruse of Elkhorn received the Fredrich Memorial Scholarship. Peterson, a UW-Platteville freshman, received $1,000. Kruse, a freshman at UW-River Falls, earned $750. does not condone or review every comment. Read more in our Commenter Policy Agreement
