The Janesville School District has announced the dates and times for registration and orientation events at local schools.

Parents and students are encouraged to attend open houses and registration events to smooth children’s passage back to school. During registration, parents can visit with teachers, help kids become familiar with their schools and classrooms, and pay school fees.

4-year-old kindergartens

Different schools have different start dates, and parents should call the schools for specific times.

Start dates for 4-year-old kindergarten:

  • Aug. 28: St. Mary.
  • Aug. 29: St. Patrick and St. Paul.
  • Sept. 5: Public schools including Adams, Jefferson, Jackson, Madison and Wilson elementary schools. Private schools including Faith’s Little Friends, Montessori, YMCA, YWCA, Cargill, Community Kids and Goelzer’s.
  • Sept. 6. KinderCare.
  • Sept. 7: Janesville Community Day Care.
  • Sept. 11: Creative Children’s Learning Center.

Elementary schools

School starts Tuesday, Sept. 5.

Registration will be Wednesday, Aug. 16. All elementary schools will have an open house from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 31.

Registration times are:

  • Adams: 7:30 to 9:30 and 2 to 6 p.m.
  • Harrison: 8 to 11 a.m. and noon to 3 p.m.
  • Jackson and Van Buren: 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 3 to 6 p.m.
  • Jefferson and Wilson: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Kennedy: 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Washington, Lincoln and Madison: 8 to 11 a.m. and 3 to 6 p.m.
  • Monroe: 3 to 6 p.m.
  • Roosevelt: 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 4 p.m.

Middle schools

Goal-setting conferences are set for Tuesday, Sept. 5. The first full day of school will be Wednesday, Sept. 6.

Registration for all three middle schools runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17.

Sixth-grade orientation dates and times include:

  • Edison: 8 to 10 a.m., 1 to 3 p.m. and 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 22.
  • Franklin: 8 to 10 a.m., 10:30 to noon, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 22.
  • Marshall: 8 to 10 a.m., 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., 2 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 24.

High schools

Craig High School

Orientation for freshmen is at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 14.

Orientation for the remaining grades is at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15.

Registration for all Craig students is Thursday, Aug. 17. Times are 10 to 11:30 a.m. for freshmen, 3 to 4 p.m. for sophomores, 4:30 to 6 p.m. for juniors and 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. for seniors.

The first day for freshmen is Tuesday, Sept. 5.

The first day for all other students is Wednesday, Sept. 6.

The school will host a back-to-school night at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 11.

Parker High School

Registration for all grades is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17.

Parker will host a “Jump Start Night” from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30.

The first day for freshmen is Tuesday, Sept. 5. All students should report Wednesday, Sept. 6.

Charter schools

Registration for charter schools is Thursday, Aug. 17.

Times are:

  • ARISE Virtual Academy: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 to 6 p.m.
  • Rock River Charter School: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Rock University High School: Noon to 5 p.m.
  • TAGOS Leadership Academy: 8 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.
