A former Beloit Memorial High School substitute teacher is being investigated in Illinois and other areas of Wisconsin for potential incidents of sexual assault, Assistant District Attorney Mason Braunschweig said.

Tyler J. Edge, 24, of Chippewa Falls, was released on a signature bond in Rock County Court on Wednesday.

Bond was set under the conditions that Edge will not make contact with the victim or other children and will not access the internet in any form.

Edge was charged with sexual assault of a student by school staff and repeated sexual assault of the same child, according to court documents.

Court documents show more than 20 incidents of assault occurred to a 14-year old student in Edge’s classroom and office during the spring of 2017.

A public defender in court Wednesday said Edge intends to actively defend himself.

An initial appearance in court is set for 1 p.m. March 14.
