The Whitewater School Board is looking for someone to fill an open seat until at least the spring.
Former member Gretchen Torres resigned from the board effective Oct. 31 to spend more time with her family.
“It has been a humbling experience to be entrusted with the responsibility of being a Board Member,” Torres wrote Oct. 2 to School Board President Casey Judd. “I learned a lot, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.”
The school board plans to appoint someone to fill the open seat until April 2018.
To be considered for the interim position, people must submit a letter of interest to the district office before 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7. Questions can go to Jodie TenPass at 262-472-8702.
The board will appoint a new member after interviews at a special meeting Monday, Dec. 11.
Then in the spring, three seats will be up for grabs.
Residents interested in running for one of the school board seats in the spring election have until 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2 to file paperwork. The top two vote-getters will serve three-year terms, while the third-place candidate will serve the rest of Torres’ two-year term.
