JANESVILLE

The City of Janesville promoted Max Gagin to be its finance director, according to a news release.

Gagin, who officially began in the position Dec. 4, first worked for the city in 2009 as a management intern for the city manager’s office, the Thursday news release states.

After Gagin finished a two-year graduate internship, he worked for more than two years as a budget and management analyst for Broward County in Florida, according to the release.

Gagin returned to Janesville as a management analyst and in 2014 was promoted to become assistant to the city manager, the release states. He has been acting finance director since July 2017.

“Max is a bright, talented, proven individual with a great depth of financial expertise,” Deputy City Manager Ryan McCue said in the release. “He has made high quality contributions during his time in the City Manager’s Office and I am confident he will lead the Finance Office well.”

Gagin received his bachelor’s degrees in political science and history from Iowa State University and his master’s degree in public administration from Northern Illinois University, according to the release.
