A Sharon couple were arrested Thursday morning in a drug enforcement raid of their apartment, Sharon Police Chief Brad Buchholz said.
Buchholz said the arrest came out of a two-month investigation of a residence by the Sharon Police Department, the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office drug enforcement unit and the federal Drug Enforcement Agency.
During the raid, a nearby school went on lockdown, he said.
Buchholz said he was unable to give many details because the investigation is ongoing, but he said Cody J. Lenard, 23, and Erica A. Lenard, 31, of 197 Church St., Apt. A, are being held at the Walworth County Jail on suspicion of probation violation.
The arrests came after a raid of their apartment shortly after 10 a.m. Thursday by local, county and federal authorities, including a Walworth County SWAT team, Buchholz said.
Buchholz said authorities initially took three people into custody after finding drug paraphernalia and a gun in the apartment.
Cody and Erica Lenard earlier this year faced Walworth County charges of making methamphetamine, according to Gazette reports. Police had responded Jan. 18 to a Lake Geneva hotel after a call from Erica Lenard that she believed Cody Lenard was overdosing on drugs, according to a criminal complaint.
Police during the January incident said they arrived to find materials used to make methamphetamine, according to a criminal complaint.
Cody and Erica Lenard were sentenced in May to three years probation on the January meth charges, according to court records.
Buchholz said the drug paraphernalia and gun found at the apartment would be probation violations for Cody and Erica Lenard.
Buchholz said he couldn’t comment on whether the investigation that was tied to methamphetamine activity, although he said further charges could be forwarded to the Walworth County District Attorney’s Office.
