A Sharon couple face criminal firearm and drug charges after local and federal police raided their apartment last week.

Cody J. Lenard, 23, of 197 Church St., Unit A, faces repeater counts of possession of an illegally obtained prescription, drug paraphernalia and firearm by a felon, according to a criminal complaint filed Thursday in Walworth County Court.

The firearm charge is a felony.

Erica A. Lenard, 31, faces a misdemeanor charge of party to drug paraphernalia possession as a repeat offender, court records show.

The couple were sentenced in May to three years of probation on methamphetamine charges.

After a two-month investigation, local and federal police raided the Lenard home Dec. 21 and found a .38-caliber revolver, a glass smoking device and gabapentin pills, according to the complaint and previous statements from police.

Cody told police he had the gun for protection, even though he knew he should not have it, the complaint states. He said he hid the gun in the toilet when he heard the loudspeaker used by the Walworth County SWAT team.

When asked if he likes to take gabapentin, Cody said, “It’s awesome,” according to the complaint.

The couple will make initial appearances in court Friday—Erica at 8:30 a.m. and Cody at 1:15 p.m.
