Janesville police are investigating an armed robbery of a payday lender on the northeast side Thursday evening.
Police were called to Check ‘n Go, 2521 Milton Ave., for a report of an armed robbery at 5:57 p.m. Thursday, according to a news release.
Police said a man walked into the Check ‘n Go and demanded money. He then pulled up his sweatshirt and showed a black handgun that was stuck in his waistband.
Employees handed the man money and he fled, driving away in a dark-colored or black four-door vehicle with its headlights off, according to the release. No one was hurt in the robbery, police said.
Police have released a security photo of the man, and Janesville police are asking the public to help identify and locate him. Police are cautioning anyone who sees the man not to approach him and to call 911.
