Walworth County sheriff’s detectives on Tuesday arrested a registered sex offender in Elkhorn who tried to meet up with a juvenile, according to a news release.
Detectives and Elkhorn police arrested Lawrence C. Hisel, 30, of Elkhorn, at 11:26 a.m. in the 800 block of Gorman Street after he arrived “to have an encounter with an underage juvenile,” the release states.
Police took Hisel to the Walworth County Jail on charges of representations depicting nudity, using a computer to facilitate a sex crime and violating sex offender registration, according to the release.
Hisel pleaded guilty in 2008 to second-degree sexual assault of a child. He was sentenced to five years of probation with one year of jail time with work release, according to online court records.
Hisel was required to register as a sex offender as part of his sentence.
The detectives investigating the case were assigned to the state Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
Capt. Robert Hall said Tuesday afternoon he could not answer questions about the case.
Charges are pending with the Walworth County District Attorney’s Office.
