A demolition derby driver accused of giving a sheriff’s deputy a concussion after he was disqualified from the Walworth County Fair’s derby has pleaded not guilty to several charges, court records show.

Robert S. Moore, 32, of Lombard, Illinois, was ejected from the Sept. 4 derby, refused to leave, yelled profanities and drove his car into a skid steer, according to a criminal complaint filed in Walworth County Court.

Prosecutors say Moore then struck a sheriff’s deputy in the side of the head, resulting in a concussion.

The deputy later shot Moore with a Taser after he refused orders to put his hands behind his back, according to the complaint.

Moore pleaded not guilty Friday to charges of substantial battery, battery to law enforcement officer, disorderly conduct and criminal damage to property, court records show.

Moore is next due in court at 1:15 p.m. Dec. 21 for a status conference.
