A Lake Geneva man has pleaded not guilty to charges that he fought with his elderly landlord who grabbed a gun and fired a warning shot, Walworth County Court records show.

Kevin M. Aumuller, 49, of 721½ North St., appeared for his Feb. 13 preliminary hearing, where a judge found probable cause for charges of aggravated battery of an elderly person, criminal trespassing, obstructing an officer and disorderly conduct stemming from the Jan. 25 incident.

Aumuller pleaded not guilty to the four charges, the first of which is a felony.

The 77-year-old landlord told police he smelled chemicals and knocked on Aumuller’s door to ask about it, according to the complaint. Aumuller eventually came to the door and punched the landlord in the face. The fight then moved downstairs, where the landlord said he feared for his life and fired a gun.

Aumuller is set to appear in court again at 1:15 p.m. April 13 for a status conference.
