The Janesville Police Department has been re-accredited by the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Accreditation Group.

The accreditation means the department complied with 206 law-enforcement standards after an on-site assessment in March.

“The accreditation process affirms to the community that the police department is performing to a set of standards that are respected by the policing profession. In a rapidly changing environment, accreditation keeps policy and procedure current and assures that the police department constantly follows the written guidelines,” Chief Dave Moore said in a news release.

The accreditation is in effect for three years. This is the department’s fifth re-accreditation.
