An Evansville man was arrested Tuesday on a fifth-offense intoxicated-driving charge four hours after he was scheduled to be in Rock County Court for a plea agreement on a previous intoxicated-driving charge.

Quinn Bergum, 26, of 38½ W. Main St. was arrested at 5:41 p.m. Tuesday at the corner of Highway 14 and John Lindemann Drive, Evansville, according to a news release from the Rock County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff's deputies responded to a call about a vehicle that was swerving in the road. Deputies followed Bergum's car into Evansville, where he almost struck some other vehicles, the release said.

Bergum eventually stopped at the McDonald's restaurant. He was transported to the Rock County Jail, where he was being held for a court appearance  Wednesday.

According to online court records, Bergum was scheduled to appear in Rock County Court at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday for a plea and sentencing hearing on charges of  second-offense intoxicated driving, operating with a prohibited blood-alcohol concentration and bail jumping.

Those charges were related to an incident Nov. 29, 2016.
