The city of Janesville announced a pair of street and utility projects will result in traffic closures.
The city said it’s closing a stretch of West Van Buren Street on the city’s west side Friday for emergency storm sewer repairs. The work is slated to take several hours, running from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, according to a city release.
Closures of West Van Buren will span Cherry Street to South Academy Street, but local access to residences in the construction area will remain open. Residents can use the South Academy Street intersection, the city said.
The closure won’t affect any Janesville Transit System route, the city said.
Early next week, the city plans a two-week closure of a section of Beacon Hill Drive between Skyview and Exeter drives on the city’s east side. The closure runs from 8 a.m. Monday, May 21, through June 4. It comes as a contractor tackles utility work leading up to the city’s planned resurfacing of Beacon Hill Drive later this year, according to the release.
The closure includes the intersection of Skyview and Beacon Hill drives on May 21. The Pontiac-Wuthering Hills Drive city bus route will maintain its regular route during the closure.
During the closure, local access to driveways in the project area will remain open.
